How long after a baby boy is born can you wait to get a circumcision?
My son’s girlfriend is expecting a boy. She is on Medicaid and they don’t pay for it. Both of them are insisting it has to be done but neither of them have a job to pay for it. They insist they are going to get it done somehow. How long after the baby is born (due August 9) can they wait to get a circumcision? I forgot to say neither of them work and I can’t pay for it. Medicaid doesn’t consider it necessary.
If they are determined to have him circumcised they should get it done as soon after the birth as possible, it’s harder on a baby as they get older (though easier on them if they are old enough for real pain medication, so if they waited until say 10 or 20, it’d be easiest on him.) However, they can wait indefinitely. No boy yet has died from not having a circumcision. And it can be done at any time in the future if there is a problem. But on a newborn, they don’t have as many erections so it’s typically seen as easier on them.
Basically, whenever they have the money saved up will be alright. Or they can just save themselves the trouble and leave it alone.
